ABOUT THE PROJECT

World of Math is a demo game made by a team of Game Art and Programming students from Taitotalo. The game was developed for Eraesmus+ G.I.G.A. project during an internship.

Development of the game started in November 2021 and the web browser demo was launched at the end of January 2022. The team has decided to continue to develop the demo into a full game, and already has lots of ideas on how to expand the idea further!

Development right now is on hiatus as the team is busy with other school and work projects

ABOUT THE GAME

Concept

World of Math is a math learning game for kids of ages 5-11. The idea was to make a browser game that helps preschool and elementary-school kids learn basic math in a simple, fun and motivating way.

We wanted to emphasize learning and feelings of achievement, so the player can answer the questions as many times as it takes and will only be moved on to the next one after getting it right.

Gameplay

Core gameplay is to travel through different areas, meet cute animal characters and solve math problems to unlock stickers in player's personal sticker book.

In the game there are math problems with progressing difficulty divided in three worlds and five categories. There are 11 characters to meet, and total of 33 levels to play. For each level there is a sticker to unlock.

Reward system

The main motivator in the game are the stickers. Player gets a sticker each time a new level is completed, and the stickers show up in their sticker book. There are 33 stickers to unlock so far.

The game has a sign-in system so each player can have their own personal sticker book, in which they can save their progression.
